Let’s stop the speculations…BMW is coming with a 760i/Li version and its 12-cylinder aggregate

Well we know about the all-new redesigned BMW 7-Series with its 4.4-Liter V8 Turbocharged aggregate and a lot of room for speculations was left in the media: “Would BMW still come out with an upgrade on its current 750?“

Let’s end the speculations and rumors right now, because BMW announced today to offer another “horsepower monster” in its fleet…The BMW 760i and 760Li Long-Wheelbase. These strong motorized “Executive Spaceships” will be fed by a V12-cylinder, 544 horsepower engine. It will catapult the 760i/Li from 0-60 mph in around 4.6 seconds. The optimal momentum of 553 pound-feet of torque will be reached at 1,500 rpm already…WOW!

A very powerful but also very smooth driving operation is guaranteed by BMW’s new 8-speed automatic transmission, which will reduce the gas consumption by another 4.5% vs. the predecessor.

Photos? How about 16 newest snap-shots on this beauty:

Here are some more facts about this new Executive Transporter:

·         Wheelbase measures 5.5” longer

·         Increased legroom for back-seat occupants

·         Exclusively re-designed 19” wheels

·         BMW’s typical Kidney Grille gets wider chrome frame to distinguish itself from the “little V8-brothers”

·         Standard Dynamic Dumping Control

·         Speed-related Servotronic Steering Assistance

·         Dynamic Drive anti-roll stability system

There is only one question left….ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE?

BMW Group Sales worldwide exceeds the 70,000 sold units mark

The Sales Numbers for the 2009 BMW 7 Series are taking off in Europe

The Sales Numbers for the 2009 BMW 7 Series are taking off in Europe

[BMW Press Release]

Munich -Ongoing challenges in the global automotive markets resulted in a decrease in sales at the BMW Group in January. In the month under review the Group sold 70,405 (prev.yr.: 92,849) vehicles of its three automobile brands, BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce – 24.2% fewer than in January 2008.
In the first month of the new year the BMW brand reported 60,248 (prev.yr.: 77,351) deliveries – 22.1% lower than for the same period last year. In the month under review 10,120 (prev.yr.: 15,457 / -34,5%) customers bought a MINI brand vehicle.
The MINI sales reduction was in part due to the lack of availability of the MINI Convertible which ended production in mid 2008 with the new model launch scheduled for March 28th. The previous model accounted for a substantial share of total MINI retail, averaging 16% of sales. More than 164,000 of MINI’s soft-top models were sold between 2004 and 2008, which by far exceeded expectations. In January Rolls-Royce handed over 37 automobiles to customers
(prev.yr.: 41 / -9.8%).

Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing: “Current market conditions remain extremely challenging. However, our Efficient Dynamics strategy is expected to continue to provide momentum for the BMW Group with more and more European countries moving towards CO2-based vehicle taxes. No other manufacturer reduced its fleet’s CO2 emissions more than the BMW Group last year.”

Deliveries of the BMW 7 Series continue to do well as a result of the European market launch of the new model. With 2,498 units sold, 5.1% more vehicles were delivered in January than in the same month last year. Sales of BMW’s flagship are expected to get another strong boost when the Series is also launched in China (in late January) and the United States (in mid-March). These markets accounted for more than 50% of the previous model’s total retail. Demand for the BMW X6 also continues to be strong, with 2,846 deliveries, as well as for the new BMW 1 Series Coupé, which saw a major increase in sales (+81.6%) to 1,295 (prev.yr.: 713) units.

BMW Motorrad started the year well. Against the overall negative market trend, BMW Motorrad exceeded the previous year’s sales (prev.yr.: 3,689/ +1,1%) for January with 3,731 units sold. This was largely due to continued strong demand for the F 650 GS and F 800 GS two-cylinder motorcycles which were introduced during the course of last year. The company expects to receive a further boost from the launch of the revised K models K1300R, K1300S and K1300GT on the market in February.

The all-new BMW 7 Series will debut soon

2009 BMW 7 Series

Innovation

BMW will present with it’s new 7 Series the fifth generation of pure luxury. The BMW Top-Model has it’s premiere at the “Paris Automobile Saloon” (4. bis 19. Oktober) and will launch in Europe late Fall.

The new 7 Series has grown up – again - and will deliver a longer, wider ride with an extended wheel base. To guarantee a tremendous driving experience and handling dynamics, the Germans did use during the in engineering and assembly process the proven principles of lightweight construction. A combination of re-enforced steel and the use of aluminum will guarantee a most possible rigid body structure and in comparison to it’s predecessor the 2009 BMW 7 Series will have 20% more torsion rigidity.

Newest Design
The new format of the 7 Series design supports a more leaner and sleeker appearance. The typical BMW Kidney Grille grew in it’s dimension as well and is now looking bigger, standing straight and tall, the headlights having a sharp cut, and the side profile shows a dominant line underneath the windows. The design of the predecessor was known as bulky and nearly everybody hated the look of the trunk. Well, this is now history - thank you so much BMW!! The new and refreshing design for the trunk looks just perfect, with a short and sporty approach. Bulkiness, good bye.

Even the design change made in the interior space was drastic. The shift-stick “travelled” from the steering wheel down to the middle console and it does not feel any longer like sitting in a Grand Marquis and shift the car into Drive. The so often criticized iDrive system was completely overhauled and seems to be easy now as 1-2-3. If you wish to have your rear passengers travelling like a real King and Queen – check this out – the rear seats are coming now with airconditioned seats and rubbing your back during a long trip with it’s massage function. Just having aquestion – who will develop the first car with built-in pedicure?

Dynamic and Assistance
A 6-speed automatic transmission will be handling the “movement” of our 7 Series. However for the end of the year we propably can expect for the 12 cylinder version a 8-speed automatic transmission, produced by ZF, Fridrichshafen in Germany.

BMW is using the change of the 7 Series generation to standarize a few more ammenities like a variable shock and damper control, which can change with the push of a button the driving characteristics of the vehicle, the use of active Xenon headlights, active steering in which the rear axle steers as well, night vision system, electronic lane change assist, and an aid which will inform the driver about the current speed limits on the road he or she is using.
